Meet today's #GirlHero, 13 year old Elizabeth. She is from a community in Peru located high in the Andes Mountains. It takes her four hours or more to walk from her home to the public secondary school, which makes it impossible to regularly attend. In addition, Elizabeth and the children in the highlands are from Quechua-speaking communities -- and all secondary schools teach courses only in Spanish.

Elizabeth is currently able to attend school by living in a dormitory in town. Now, her walk to school is only ten minutes! She returns home on weekends to help around the house and see her family, but spends Sunday through Thursday at school, doing homework, and learning from tutors.
We salute Elizabeth's discipline and sacrifice to receive an education.
Elizabeth is supported by She’s the First and their partner organization Sacred Valley Project
She's the First sponsors education in low-income countries with the goal of creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders. They work with 10 partner organizations around the world to provide scholars with the highest-quality education available.
